Ty Myers talks to LiveWithLP in Glasgow
Ty Myers talks to LiveWithLP in Glasgow at C2C Festival

As the youngest artist to ever take on the C2C Main Stage, Ty Myers is thriving right now. Travelling the globe and even joining Luke Combs on a world tour, 2026 is teeing up to be career-changing. LiveWithLP caught up with Ty backstage at C2C Glasgow to delve into the upcoming album and where the soulful inspiration to his tracks comes from.

Ty Myers, you not only have an incredible voice, but you are the very person I was most excited to speak to. There is so much going on with you at the moment; you must be exhausted.

Oh, I am, but being able to hit the road over here in Europe one or two times this year and a new album out in days. I am so excited, I’ve been hanging onto this record for so long, I just want to release it and have everybody hear it.

It’s been pre-saved for a while. I can’t wait for it to drop. A few of the tracks have been released already, a personal favourite of mine, Two Trains with Mr Marcus King, it’s so well crafted from the lyrics to the strings. How does the rest of the album compare?

For me, this album kind of encapsulates in my mom's car because in my mom's car, it was always soul and Motown, that kind of vibe, and I remember as a young kid who was really only introduced to real traditional country music at a young age, hearing that stuff was like altering. It kind of changed my perspective on music as a whole and allowed me to even further broaden my influence later in life. So I figured it needed its own project.

We recorded it at Fame Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Everyone you can think of - Aretha Franklin, Lynyrd Skynyrd has recorded there. I wanted to go own the southern rock and blues sound - and soul is kind of the direction I wanted to head down. All my musicians and producers really nailed it. I’m so so happy with it.

2026 is shaping up to be an incredible year for you, Ty, European pit-stop, new album and Luke Combs tour. Playing Glasgow's biggest arena for C2C and back in the summer to play Scotland's biggest arena. How does that fit in your mind?

It’s so interesting knowing and going into a tour like that, that you’re not going to be the same person going into it as when you finish every night - is just a literal dream come true like unfathomable dream come true - if we’re not playing stadiums, we’re playing in front of a castle so it’s just mind blowing and I am so grateful and humbled just trying to take it in and roll with the punches.

We are psyched to have you back already! On the topic of crowds, over here, do you notice much of a difference between the States and Europe?

You guys are just as rowdy, but I’ve been telling people that it reminds me of when I first started doing music and first playing for live crowds - I was just 11 years old playing with my dad at venues he would get me into, get that foot in the door because - well.. It’s hard to hire an 11-year-old to come and play at your place!

But my dad would always find a way, and it would remind me of now because those people are not there to see you; they are there for music, and you have to grab their attention, and once you grab it, they're not gonna sing every lyric back to you; they’re going to sit and listen intently. It’s a very respectful crowd over here; they just sit back and cheer after, so it's kind of refreshing and reminds me of home a lot.

You’re not just playing music over here, though, Ty; you’re also setting records as the youngest person to ever play the main stage.

I was told this recently, and I had no idea.

Poor Waylon Wyatt at 19 probably thought he had that win in the bag!

I actually asked him how old he was just to check, and I am younger than him. I didn’t realise, so wow, it's crazy to be the youngest, but also, what an honour.

Not long until we have a shiny new album in our playlists, Heavy on the Soul is not far away, and you mentioned this album is more of what you wanted to do and craft a little more?

Exactly, you know the first album, like many people's debut albums, took a long period of time and writing and building up to that first record. I was 12 when I wrote some of those songs, and up until you’re 16/17 those years of your life are much more formative. My entire mindset and brain have grown since that album. I’m very close to that record, but it was so cool for this new release to be more concise and have a quicker turnaround time.

Having an actual project to work on and build off of, I’m really happy with it and the team - especially Brandon Hood, just absolutely killed it.

Whenever an artist releases an album, there's always one song on there that they expect to be the fan favourite, and I always like to check in further down the line to see if they were correct. What do you think will be the go-to favourite?

It’s got to be a song which is one of my favourite records ever written, Morning Comes. There’s something about the lyrics, it's not some revolutionary idea, it's a song that's been written many times before - meeting a girl, she comes over and leaves in the morning. The story has been written before, but the lyrics inside of it make it special to me, and it's one of those when I started writing, I thought ‘whoa.. I have to finish this right now - we’re cooking!’ I feel like I’m picking a favourite child! But, Morning Comes is certainly my favourite, and I hope it is the fans' favourite too.

My final question: who is someone on your playlists at the moment that may not have made their break over here in Europe, or someone who deserves a shoutout that you’re enjoying at the moment from back home?

I have two - Miss Harper O’Neill, who is on a song called Help Ourselves, with me. She is not only an amazing artist but an amazing person, and if we were to make someone famous, it should be her. Also, Mr Alex Lambert - vocally, this man is like butter, he is great and coming out with new songs that are just mind-blowing to me.

Heavy On The Soul by Ty Myers is out Friday, 27th March
