  • OUTERNET LONDON The Intelligence Garden Visionary behind 'The Summer Palace' unveils groundbreaking immersive journey into the evolution of human connection

The Intelligence Garden 'Our real strength isn't technology - it's human connection' LONDON, THURSDAY 12TH FEBRUARY — Following the success of the multi-sensory masterpiece The Summer Palace, acclaimed digital artist Agustín Vidal Saavedra returns to Outernet today with his most ambitious project to date: The Intelligence Garden.  Through spectacular visuals on Outernet's free, 4-storey high, 16k screen surface screens, The Intelligence Garden guides audiences on a journey from simple, early forms of intelligence to human consciousness, framing intelligence as an emergent property of complex systems.  Agustín Vidal Saavedra is Creative Director at GLASSEYE, an award-winning creative technology studio based in Ireland, specialising in the production of immersive experiences at architectural scale. Working across large-format LED environments, XR and interactive media, the agency is known internationally for combining technical innovation with strong creative vision and narrative depth, creating experiences that are both memorable and meaningful. Agustín Vidal Saavedra, Creative Director at GLASSEYE, said:   "The way we think about intelligence is changing. The Intelligence Garden is not only a large-scale visual and technical work, but a reflection on how intelligence and artistic creation itself, is being rethought today." Using the metaphor of a garden - a site of growth, interconnection and transformation - the experience visualises the evolution of thought, perception and creativity. Moving fluidly from microscopic life to abstract human cognition, the work unfolds as a visually rich, living and evolving digital ecosystem. Commissioned by Outernet London - the most visited cultural attraction in the UK - The Intelligence Garden has been conceived specifically for The Now Building,  a landmark 23,000-square-foot, four-storey, 360° LED environment with wrap-around walls and ceiling, rendered at ultra-high 16K resolution. Located in the heart of London's West End, the building offers one of the most ambitious and technically advanced immersive canvases anywhere in the world. Produced using a hybrid creative pipeline that combines real-time, game-engine-based systems with cinematic animation and compositing techniques, The Intelligence Garden blends architectural-scale visuals, spatialised sound and responsive systems to create an experience that is at once technically mesmerising, emotionally resonant and conceptually rich. Agustín Vidal Saavedra's previous work, the hugely popular The Summer Palace, was a beautiful combination of Renaissance paintings, animation, particle simulations and 3D visuals. • INDIE-ROCK BUZZ BAND THE CASES SHARE THE NEW SINGLE 'MR PENNY'

The Cases Mr Penny Preston  risers  The Cases  have emerged as next wave contenders in the indie-rock world, first attracting thousands of fans to their  TikTok  live sessions and then establishing an IRL following with last year's debut sold-out headline tour as well as major festival sets at  Isle of Wight  and  Y NOT? . Now things heat up in  2026  as they share the new single  'Mr Penny' , the title track from their upcoming debut EP.   Both releases herald the band's brand new deal with  This Feeling Records  in partnership with  LAB Records . The rock'n' roll tastemakers  This Feeling  have helped countless bands go from modest grassroots beginnings to the biggest of stages, with a network of nationwide gigs, festival line-up curation and their own  This Feeling By The Sea  weekender. Meanwhile,  LAB Records  guided  The K's  to  #1  on the  UK's Official Album Chart  last year and recently saw  ALT BLK ERA  earn their first  MOBO Award  nomination.   If you're new to  The Cases ,  'Mr Penny'  is the place to start. It is irresistible, high-energy indie-pop which feels like a hybrid between the youthful rush of  The Royston Club  and the arena-filling melody of  The Kooks  with a touch of  The Courteeners'  swagger. Its storytelling lyricism tells of a man who falls in love with the wrong woman - leading to a wedding in which the "til death do us part" promise rapidly becomes a prophecy.   Vocalist / rhythm guitarist  Harry Hornsby  says,  "If you're gonna get into a relationship, everyone's got a chance of getting hurt. When it works out, everyone's happy, but if not... you can end up like 'Mr Penny'. It's a fictional story, but it's something that many people go through. Between the ages of 16 and 19 you think you've found the love of your life, but it often doesn't work out."   The single is the first chapter of the  'Mr Penny'  EP, a four-track set which charts a story of faltering young love - from the uncertainty of  'The Curse'  to the heartbreak of 'She Said' and finally the release of being free to make a brand new start with  'Romantic' . Sonically the band's effervescent energy remains on point without simply sticking to a formula, at times stepping into melancholy reflection or accelerating into a punkish release of energy. All four songs were written back-to-back as the band's own experiences unleashed a flood of inspiration.   Bassist  James Maher  adds,  "The whole thing tells a story of the different ways that people take a breakup. We had all been through break-ups when we wrote it, so we felt those emotions: being upset, being angry, then realising nothing's that deep because we're still young."   The Cases  recorded the EP last year after the self-funded band pooled their finances to book sessions with producer  Chris Taylor  ( The Lathums ,  Blossoms ,  Courteeners ) at  Kempston Street ,  Liverpool . He helped unlock the band's potential during what they agree was the best two weeks of their lives: the vocals are powerful and expressive, the lead guitar sparkles more than ever, and the rhythms provide a thunderous foundation.   It's the sound of a band who you'd guess have been in the game for years, yet the band are still all aged between 18-21.  Harry  and lead guitarist  Will Bullen  first formed a band in school solely to enter a talent contest, but didn't fully discover their creative connection until they met on the first day of college. Their debut track  'Maybe'  caused a first ripple of interest in  2022 , before the line-up was finalised in  2023  with the addition of fellow college student  James  and then drummer  Matt Barron  - the latter of whom happened to be tearing through a beat-perfect cover of  The Stone Roses' 'Waterfall'  at a pub gig at the precise moment  Harry  was scrolling through his phone desperately searching for a suitable drummer.   Now they share influences dotted across the history of  British  music, from pioneers like  The Beatles  and  The Small Faces  to current scene heroes  The K's  and  The Royston Club , via  Arctic Monkeys  and  Paul Weller , and alongside less linear interests too, like  ELO  and  Red Hot Chili Peppers . Attending the mega  Oasis  reunion was inspiring too - they could see first hand that there's a huge, youthful audience for the kind of anthemic guitar music that they excel at.   The  LAB Records / This Feeling  deal is a huge stepping stone for  The Cases  - the two parties provide the expertise, connections, infrastructure and artist-friendly community that can open far more doors than they could hope to achieve working independently. The first step, they hope, will be more shows in front of bigger audiences as well as stretching their core audience far beyond the north-west. And longer term? The ambitions are to make music their full-time calling, to crash into the charts, and eventually become one of the  UK's  biggest bands.   And between the strength of their songs and their commitment to the craft, that's an entirely achievable ambition. They're approachable, down-to-earth characters too: all too happy to have a chat, sign a poster or pose for a photo with a growing fanbase. But it's real, too. If they're not playing gigs, you'll find them in the crowd at grassroots or academy-level shows. Simply,  The Cases  are on the way up.   The Cases  have plenty on the live front coming up. Their second headline tour will culminate with their biggest show to date at  Manchester Gorilla , which sold-out four months in advance. Their schedule also includes select shows with  Alex Spencer  and a variety of festival dates which will surely expand as the year unfolds. • LOWERTOWN ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM & SHARE LEAD SINGLE “I LIKE YOU A LOT”

Lowertown by Victoria Baczynska  UGLY DUCKLING UNION   OUT 22ND MAY VIA SUMMER SHADE New York duo  Lowertown  have announced their signing to  Summer Shade and their highly anticipated new album  Ugly Duckling Union , due out  May 22nd . Lead single “ I Like You Alot ” is a rare love song from the pair, detailing the physical sensations of infatuation over a spry drumbeat and lo-fi, twangy guitars. The track  “was written about the hope of a new crush, and the intoxicating feelings of admiring and fantasizing about someone from afar,”  shared the band.  “Loving someone without yet knowing them, and being filled with the idea of the potential time spent together. This thinking can become obsessive and compulsive, almost like a sickness taking over the body, but maybe not in a particularly bad way. It is also about the insecurity and the uncertainty about these feelings being reciprocated or un-reciprocated." The songwriting partnership of  Olivia Osby  and  Avsha Weinberg , the last few years saw the prolific pair teetering on the brink. From constant touring and a separation from their label to creative frustrations and an unhealthy attachment to one another, their artistic partnership and, more importantly, their friendship were on shaky ground—especially since these experiences were coloured by the disorienting intensity of their late teens and early 20s. It became clear that the two had to revisit their roots. Those roots trace back to Atlanta, Georgia: in the forests, the soon-to-be abandoned venues, the makeshift punk communities, to Weinberg’s family basement, but those roots also formed somewhere else entirely: the internet. The band grew up on Tumblr fan pages, Reddit forums, digital spaces that had not yet been corporatized. Places whose fandoms eventually leapt from the virtual to the physical, bringing people together to meet at concerts, coffee shops, and conventions to discuss their obsessions and connect over shared interests. During the pandemic, they watched these places change, become commodified, and disappear; people no longer had these physical spaces to be solely amongst friends with shared interests where communities and fandoms could strengthen. Out of this vacuum, the  Ugly Duckling Union  was born. Inspired by the conceptual creativity of bands like Gorillaz   and the emphasis on the communal concert experience of Fugazi,  Lowertown ’s new album, fittingly titled  Ugly Duckling Union , is the conceptual world of Dale the duckling protagonist and his companions as they attempt to band together to defeat LBH, a tyrannical media corporation set on separating and isolating in their pursuit of control. Through the band’s online connection with fans, their Discord server with channels for their community to share their own art and talk to the band, and their Instagram and YouTube pages, where they have built a cult following, they have already begun to bridge the gap between the digital and physical. Lowertown shows are often giddily attended by those who have met through their web of online fandom.  Ugly Duckling Union , accompanied by a conceptual story, a playable Minecraft world, a handbook, plush dolls, and drawn comics by Doctor Nowhere (Silas Orion), is creating the space to be obsessed together again. Alongside today’s album announcement, the band have announced an extensive headline tour of North America, kicking off in late April and running through the end of June, culminating in a hometown show at New York’s Bowery Ballroom. Tickets are on sale Feb 13th at 10am local. Although Lowertown are the sole caretakers of their art, their new album title is a celebration of the meaningful community they’ve built. “Our home has been the people who make us feel understood, and the music that makes us feel understood,” Osby explains. “I feel like Avsha and I have just been two misfits doing stuff together, and I feel like this music is for people like us—it’s for the misfit toys.” There’s a lot of freedom in being an outsider, and that’s ultimately what  Ugly Duckling Union  is about - finding and freeing yourself through community. And what could be more freeing, self-confronting, and funny than making a beautiful record with your ride-or-die, misfit-toy best friend? Pre-save Fashion here . To celebrate the release, the band will play a headline London show at The Social on 9th March . Tickets are on sale from 6pm here .  AFTERDRIVE are a band on the rise, locking into a sound that feels both fresh and inevitable. Their new song Fashion  plays like a future classic - uptempo, modern, and confidently fusing their influences with standout performances. More than just another guitar band, AFTERDRIVE push beyond their roots, layering contemporary synths and electronics beneath vocalist Ben Watts' effortlessly cool delivery.  Fashion  plays out across late nights and chaotic encounters and a magnetic infatuation with someone who is volatile, exciting with the kind of presence that pulls you in even when you know it's bad for you. Beneath that rush, Fashion  reveals something colder, exploring how love can feel hollow in the social-media age, where connection is easy, disposable, and often built on surface-level attraction rather than intimacy. AFTERDRIVE tap into the frustration of being physically close to someone while emotionally miles apart - a relationship full of tension, silence, and things left unsaid. Moody, impulsive, and painfully self-aware, Fashion,  produced and mixed by Thomas Mitchener, captures a generation caught between wanting closeness and being seduced by image - where desire burns fast, but something real always seems just out of reach. AFTERDRIVE have a busy February and Spring ahead. Later this week, they join The Entitled Sons as support on their UK tour, and in April they support US superstar Maggie Lindemann on her UK and EU tour, kicking off in Dublin on 14th April. They also have a very special warm-up show to be announced soon in their hometown of Ipswich. Their recent sold-out local headline show at The Waterfront Studio on 31st January saw them debut Fashion  live as well as be swarmed by fans at the end of the night for signings and meet and greets.  Last year saw the band support Ed Sheeran at his Portman Road stadium show and most recently release their song Necklace   in November. They received lots of support from BBC Radio 1 where Alyx Holcombe played it and said: " A band who is brand new to the show and I don't think I've ever fallen in love with a band as quick as this to be honest. Kinda giving me the Weeknd fused with the 1975 vibes". They also have had multiple plays by Jess Iszatt on her BBC Radio 1 show too. AFTERDRIVE were asked back for a second live session last year by their local BBC Introducing show hosted by Angelle Joseph, who has been a regular support. As well as on radio, the band have had support from the likes of Rolling Stone UK, Kerrang, The Independent and many other key tastemakers.  AFTERDRIVE are Ben Watts (Vocals), Ed Ruff (Bass), Joe Watts (Drums) and Luke Ellis (Guitar). • Jason Derulo - OVO Hydro, Glasgow 29th January 2026

Review By Lauren Page Worldwide superstar Jason Derulo kicked off his Last Dance World Tour in Glasgow on Thursday night, and while the production was undeniably slick, futuristic and visually impressive, the performance itself didn’t quite live up to the standard many fans were hoping for. Before we get into the criticisms, it’s important to say this clearly: Jason Derulo knows how to put on a show. From the moment the lights went down, it was obvious this tour had been meticulously designed. The set was bold and immersive, the choreography was intense and precise, and there was a clear narrative woven throughout the night. In terms of staging, visuals and theatrical moments, this was everything you’d expect from an arena-level pop spectacle. However, one thing became increasingly noticeable as the night went on - Jason barely sang live. Lip syncing isn’t unusual in pop concerts, especially when artists are dancing at such a high level. But when it begins to feel like the majority of the vocals are pre-recorded, it becomes hard to ignore. At one point, the woman next to me summed it up perfectly, saying she’d paid an eye-watering price to essentially watch someone dance to a backing track - a comment that felt genuinely heartbreaking, and one that echoed the sentiment of many fans both inside the arena and later online. This was particularly disappointing because Jason Derulo is an artist I’ve wanted to see live for years. Ever since Whatcha Say dropped back in 2009, I’ve been hooked on his sound, his slick pop-R&B crossover hits and, of course, his music videos - which never miss. He’s built a career on catchy anthems, strong visuals and an undeniable stage presence, so expectations were understandably high. When the Last Dance World Tour announced a Glasgow date, I jumped at the chance to attend - especially with Jason telling the crowd this would be his final tour, marking the end of an era. Whether that announcement is genuine or a clever marketing move remains to be seen. It could just as easily be a transition into a new musical direction. Either way, the concept of the tour leaned heavily into a futuristic aesthetic, from encouraging fans to wear metallic outfits to the striking stage visuals - which, side note, felt very AI-driven at times. Musically, the night delivered on nostalgia. We heard all the big hitters: Swalla, Wiggle, Ridin’ Solo, Talk Dirty, Breathing, Tip Toe - if you’ve had a Jason Derulo song on repeat at any point over the last decade, chances are it made the setlist. Hearing those tracks live, surrounded by a crowd who clearly knew every word, was a great experience and a reminder of just how many hits he’s amassed over the years. But again, the recurring issue of lip syncing took away from those moments. When a tour is billed as a farewell, fans expect a deeper connection - raw vocals, emotional moments, and a sense of gratitude between artist and audience. Instead, parts of the show felt more like a perfectly rehearsed performance than a live, once-in-a-lifetime experience. If this truly is Jason Derulo’s last tour, perhaps the toll of years on the road is finally showing. His work ethic and output over the years can’t be denied, and his influence on pop music isundeniable. Still, the opening night of a world tour - especially one branded as a farewell should feel special, and sadly, this one didn’t quite hit the emotional or vocal highs many fans were hoping for. That said, I finally got to tick a Jason Derulo concert off my list and hear some of my favourite playlist staples live. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t what I expected from a worldwide superstar. Visial spectacular, yes, but ultimately lacking the live vocal performance that would’ve elevated it from a good show to a truly memorable one.

  • THE MOLOTOVS ANNOUNCE MAJOR TOUR AS DEBUT ALBUM WASTED ON YOUTH CHALLENGES FOR NO.1

London, Tuesday 3rd February 2026 – The Molotovs have today announced a major UK tour after midweek results put them challenging for No.1 in the Official Charts with debut album Wasted On Youth (Marshall Records). The chart success of Wasted On Youth is the outcome of a touring-led, fan-built campaign - rather than hype or algorithms - with the industry catching up on huge demand. Despite still being teenagers, siblings Matt (17) and Issey Cartlidge (19) have played more than 600 shows, amassing new fans everywhere they go. The band take the step up in September with the 'Welcome To Urbia' tour including the 2,300-capacity Forum in London, as well as major venues in Nottingham, Brighton, Glasgow, Newcastle, Sheffield, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff and Birmingham. In the Official Charts midweek figures on Monday, the band were at number 2 in the album charts, just behind Lily Allen and ahead of Olivia Dean. They are also ahead of guitar bands Cast, despite the recent Oasis support slots, and Kula Shaker. The band joked on Instagram that they are "in a chart war with some new, unsigned band called Lily Allen". Lily replied: "It's all love baby, @TheMolotovs, hope you win the war." The band's chart success is down to a focus on physical sales, with more than 6,000 pre-orders from the rapidly growing live fanbase, built over the last two years with the sale of 15,000 tickets. Matt said: "After tearing up every dive bar and stage on the circuit, finally unleashing Wasted On Youth feels electric. We've lived these songs on the road, pouring every ounce of sweat into every live show. To see that raw energy bottled into our debut album is massive - it's the payoff we've been chasing." Issey said: "We're delighted with the chart success of the album but that's not what we're about. Our passion is for getting out around the country, and around the world, playing for audiences new and old - connecting with people who love music as much as we do. That love of music can help build a positivity and optimism sorely lacking elsewhere in 2026." Recorded at Marshall Studio with producer Jason Perry, and mixed and mastered by Blair Crichton from Dead Pony, Wasted On Youth, features Matt and Issey with drummer Noah Riley. It includes the hit singles 'More More More More', 'Today's Gonna Be Our Day', 'Rhythm of Yourself' and 'Get A Life'. The band have honed their craft supporting, and taken inspiration from, legendary figures including Iggy Pop, Sex Pistols, Blondie, The Damned and The Libertines. Wasted On Youth is a life-affirming burst of new wave, punk, indie, and garage, opening with the blistering 'Get A Life', a direct strike against the toxic culture of social media negativity. From there, the band dives into the complexities of coming of age. Whether it's the pressure of academic expectations in 'Daydreaming' or the hazy, rehab-bound fantasies of 'Popstar', the lyrics reflect a generation caught between societal demands and their own creative instincts. "A lot of pressure is put on young people to know exactly what they want to do in life, which is just unrealistic," said Matt. This sentiment anchors the title track, 'Wasted On Youth', an anthem of self-doubt and the relentless passage of time. Yet, the album isn't just about the struggle; it's a rejection of the "small-town mentality" found in 'Geraldine' and a fierce defence of individualism in 'Rhythm Of Yourself', a track born from the band's refusal to be moulded by industry trends. From the lockdown-induced frustrations of 'Newsflash' to the frantic energy of lead single 'More More More More', Wasted On Youth is as much a sonic riot as it is a cerebral one. It concludes with the defiant 'Today's Gonna Be Our Day', a powerful "call to arms" urging listeners to reject apathy and stay informed. Artist: The Molotovs (Mathew Cartlidge & Issey Cartlidge). Get A Life: "It's about people who spend their time hating and spreading negativity. It's become easier than ever through social media, so it's a fight against that." Daydreaming: "'Daydreamin' is about being confused, naive, and lost for direction in life and someone telling you to wake up and stop daydreaming. A lot of pressure is put on young people to come out of their GCSEs and A-Levels and know exactly what they want to do in life, which is just unrealistic in my eyes." More More More More: "This was the first single and it's the moment at shows when the dancefloor goes from bouncing to pure chaos." Come On Now: "Yeah, so here's the problem: I've got no clue what 'Come On Now' is about. I actually have no clue." Nothing Keeps Her Away: "It's about someone the protagonist continually shrugs off, thinking they're a bit of a stalker, until he realises that she wasn't all that bad and he was just being a knob." Wasted On Youth: "'Wasted on Youth' 'is about self-doubt and the feeling that time just passes you by. The lyric says, 'Will you reminisce of all the things you did then? The seed of every problem is always growing from the stem.'" Geraldine: "It's supposed to be a letter from a separated friend to another, talking about how no matter how far away they are from each other, their bond will never be severed." Newsflash: "'Newsflash' is about the impact of lockdown on a generation - lost social skills, leaving people insular. And it's just I guess the frustrations about it." Rhythm Of Yourself: "It's about individuality, being your own man, and not being swayed by trends and herd mentality. More specifically it's about being f***ed over in the music industry by people who try and change you to go with the trends. 'Change your clothes, change your face and hair, and tell me it's only fair' is one of the lyrics." Popstar: "'Pop Star' is a young person's hazy dream of becoming a pop star, describing going out with supermodels, being number one, and washing up in rehab because, supposedly, as the lyric says, that's how it's done." Today's Gonna Be Our Day: "'Today's Gonna Be Our Day' is a call to arms for my generation to make change, take an interest in what's going on in the world. Don't be apolitical, stay informed. It's about making your surroundings a better place, and you could start today." About The Molotovs London-based siblings Matt (17) and Issey Cartlidge (19) are The Molotovs, a high-octane duo at the forefront of a burgeoning revival of authentic guitar music. Eschewing the typical path of viral shortcuts, the pair built their reputation the hard way: playing more than 600 shows across the UK's relentless live circuit. This grueling schedule has transformed them into one of the tightest, most explosive acts in the country. Their debut album, Wasted On Youth (Marshall Records), serves as a fierce rejection of the "lost generation" narrative. Rather than leaning into apathy, The Molotovs champion social optimism, individuality, and a direct call to arms for Gen Z to take up space and stay informed. Recorded at Marshall Studio with producer Jason Perry and mixed by Blair Crichton (Dead Pony), their sound bottles the raw, sweat-soaked energy of their live performances. From the chaotic spirit of 'More More More More' to the political urgency of 'Today's Gonna Be Our Day', The Molotovs aren't just playing rock and roll - they are revitalizing it for a new era.
