  • Jason Derulo - OVO Hydro, Glasgow 29th January 2026

Review By Lauren Page Worldwide superstar Jason Derulo kicked off his Last Dance World Tour in Glasgow on Thursday night, and while the production was undeniably slick, futuristic and visually impressive, the performance itself didn’t quite live up to the standard many fans were hoping for. Before we get into the criticisms, it’s important to say this clearly: Jason Derulo knows how to put on a show. From the moment the lights went down, it was obvious this tour had been meticulously designed. The set was bold and immersive, the choreography was intense and precise, and there was a clear narrative woven throughout the night. In terms of staging, visuals and theatrical moments, this was everything you’d expect from an arena-level pop spectacle. However, one thing became increasingly noticeable as the night went on - Jason barely sang live. Lip syncing isn’t unusual in pop concerts, especially when artists are dancing at such a high level. But when it begins to feel like the majority of the vocals are pre-recorded, it becomes hard to ignore. At one point, the woman next to me summed it up perfectly, saying she’d paid an eye-watering price to essentially watch someone dance to a backing track - a comment that felt genuinely heartbreaking, and one that echoed the sentiment of many fans both inside the arena and later online. This was particularly disappointing because Jason Derulo is an artist I’ve wanted to see live for years. Ever since Whatcha Say dropped back in 2009, I’ve been hooked on his sound, his slick pop-R&B crossover hits and, of course, his music videos - which never miss. He’s built a career on catchy anthems, strong visuals and an undeniable stage presence, so expectations were understandably high. When the Last Dance World Tour announced a Glasgow date, I jumped at the chance to attend - especially with Jason telling the crowd this would be his final tour, marking the end of an era. Whether that announcement is genuine or a clever marketing move remains to be seen. It could just as easily be a transition into a new musical direction. Either way, the concept of the tour leaned heavily into a futuristic aesthetic, from encouraging fans to wear metallic outfits to the striking stage visuals - which, side note, felt very AI-driven at times. Musically, the night delivered on nostalgia. We heard all the big hitters: Swalla, Wiggle, Ridin’ Solo, Talk Dirty, Breathing, Tip Toe - if you’ve had a Jason Derulo song on repeat at any point over the last decade, chances are it made the setlist. Hearing those tracks live, surrounded by a crowd who clearly knew every word, was a great experience and a reminder of just how many hits he’s amassed over the years. But again, the recurring issue of lip syncing took away from those moments. When a tour is billed as a farewell, fans expect a deeper connection - raw vocals, emotional moments, and a sense of gratitude between artist and audience. Instead, parts of the show felt more like a perfectly rehearsed performance than a live, once-in-a-lifetime experience. If this truly is Jason Derulo’s last tour, perhaps the toll of years on the road is finally showing. His work ethic and output over the years can’t be denied, and his influence on pop music isundeniable. Still, the opening night of a world tour - especially one branded as a farewell should feel special, and sadly, this one didn’t quite hit the emotional or vocal highs many fans were hoping for. That said, I finally got to tick a Jason Derulo concert off my list and hear some of my favourite playlist staples live. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t what I expected from a worldwide superstar. Visial spectacular, yes, but ultimately lacking the live vocal performance that would’ve elevated it from a good show to a truly memorable one.

  • THE MOLOTOVS WASTED ON YOUTH DEBUT ALBUM ENTERS AT NO.3 ON THE OFFICIAL ALBUMS CHART

"We are incredibly proud for our debut album to go straight into the top 3 of the Official UK Albums Chart. We would like to thank all the fans who have bought the record and tickets to see us live. Our audience has been built through authentic connections with fans at shows. Very excited for what's to come.'" -  Matt and Issey, The Molotovs NEWLY ANNOUNCED MAJOR TOUR SELLS 5000 TICKETS IN 24 HOURS LIVE PERFORMANCES DRIVE CHARTS SUCCESS - BUCKING INDUSTRY TREND London, Friday 6th February 2026  –  The Molotovs  debut album  Wasted On Youth (Marshall Records) makes a landmark entry at Number 3 in the Official UK Album Charts. Up against the Grammy winning Olivia Dean and multi-platinum Lily Allen, plus Brit Pop favourites (and Oasis support slot artists) Kula Shaker and Cast, the teenage London brother and sister rock duo crash the UK charts with a stunning debut. This week, they also announced a  major UK tour which sold 5000 tickets in just 24 hours  with their London Kentish Town date close to selling out. The chart success of  Wasted On Youth  is the outcome of a touring-led, fan-built campaign - rather than hype or algorithms - with the industry catching up on huge demand. Despite still being teenagers, siblings Matt (17) and Issey Cartlidge (19) have played more than 600 shows, amassing new fans everywhere they go. The band take the step up in September with the 'Welcome To Urbia' tour including the 2,300-capacity Forum in London, as well as major venues in Nottingham, Brighton, Glasgow, Newcastle, Sheffield, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff and Birmingham.   The band  joked on Instagram  that they are   "in a chart war with some new, unsigned band called Lily Allen".  Lily replied:  "It's all love baby, @TheMolotovs, hope you win the war."     The band's chart success is down to a focus on physical sales, with more than 6,000 pre-orders from the rapidly growing live fanbase, built over the last two years with the sale of 15,000 tickets. Matt said:   "After tearing up every dive bar and stage on the circuit, finally unleashing Wasted On Youth feels electric. We've lived these songs on the road, pouring every ounce of sweat into every live show. To see that raw energy bottled into our debut album is massive - it's the payoff we've been chasing." Issey said:  "We're delighted with the chart success of the album but that's not what we're about. Our passion is for getting out around the country, and around the world, playing for audiences new and old - connecting with people who love music as much as we do. That love of music can help build a positivity and optimism sorely lacking elsewhere in 2026." Recorded at Marshall Studio with producer Jason Perry, and mixed and mastered by Blair Crichton from Dead Pony,  Wasted On Youth , features Matt and Issey with drummer Noah Riley. It includes the hit singles  'More More More More' ,  'Today's Gonna Be Our Day' ,  'Rhythm of Yourself'  and  'Get A Life' . The band have honed their craft supporting, and taken inspiration from, legendary figures including  Iggy Pop ,  Sex Pistols ,  Blondie ,  The Damned  and  The Libertines.  The Molotovs Debut Album Wasted On Youth  is a life-affirming burst of new wave, punk, indie, and garage, opening with the blistering 'Get A Life', a direct strike against the toxic culture of social media negativity. From there, the band dives into the complexities of coming of age. Whether it's the pressure of academic expectations in 'Daydreaming' or the hazy, rehab-bound fantasies of 'Popstar', the lyrics reflect a generation caught between societal demands and their own creative instincts. "A lot of pressure is put on young people to know exactly what they want to do in life, which is just unrealistic,"   said Matt.  This sentiment anchors the title track, 'Wasted On Youth', an anthem of self-doubt and the relentless passage of time. Yet, the album isn't just about the struggle; it's a rejection of the "small-town mentality" found in 'Geraldine' and a fierce defence of individualism in 'Rhythm Of Yourself', a track born from the band's refusal to be moulded by industry trends. From the lockdown-induced frustrations of 'Newsflash' to the frantic energy of lead single 'More More More More',  Wasted On Youth  is as much a sonic riot as it is a cerebral one. It concludes with the defiant 'Today's Gonna Be Our Day', a powerful "call to arms" urging listeners to reject apathy and stay informed. Artist: The Molotovs (Mathew Cartlidge & Issey Cartlidge). Release Title: Wasted On Youth (Debut Album). Record label: Marshall Records Official Release: 25th January 2026. Production: Produced by Jason Perry; Mixed/Mastered by Blair Crichton (Dead Pony). The Sound: A "chemical compound" of New Wave, Punk, and Indie Sleaze. Core Philosophy: Modernism as progression; optimism through individualism. Tracklist: 1. Get A Life, 2. Daydreaming, 3. More More More More, 4. Come On Now, 5. Nothing Keeps Her Away, 6. Wasted On Youth, 7. Geraldine, 8. Newsflash, 9. Rhythm Of Yourself, 10. Popstar, 11. Today's Gonna Be Our Day. It's become easier than ever through social media, so it's a fight against that." Daydreaming: "'Daydreamin' is about being confused, naive, and lost for direction in life and someone telling you to wake up and stop daydreaming. A lot of pressure is put on young people to come out of their GCSEs and A-Levels and know exactly what they want to do in life, which is just unrealistic in my eyes." More More More More: "This was the first single and it's the moment at shows when the dancefloor goes from bouncing to pure chaos." Come On Now: "Yeah, so here's the problem: I've got no clue what 'Come On Now' is about. I actually have no clue." Nothing Keeps Her Away: "It's about someone the protagonist continually shrugs off, thinking they're a bit of a stalker, until he realises that she wasn't all that bad and he was just being a knob." Wasted On Youth: "'Wasted on Youth' 'is about self-doubt and the feeling that time just passes you by. The lyric says, 'Will you reminisce of all the things you did then? The seed of every problem is always growing from the stem.'" Geraldine: "It's supposed to be a letter from a separated friend to another, talking about how no matter how far away they are from each other, their bond will never be severed." Newsflash: "'Newsflash' is about the impact of lockdown on a generation - lost social skills, leaving people insular. And it's just I guess the frustrations about it." Rhythm Of Yourself: "It's about individuality, being your own man, and not being swayed by trends and herd mentality. More specifically it's about being f***ed over in the music industry by people who try and change you to go with the trends. 'Change your clothes, change your face and hair, and tell me it's only fair' is one of the lyrics." Popstar: "'Pop Star' is a young person's hazy dream of becoming a pop star, describing going out with supermodels, being number one, and washing up in rehab because, supposedly, as the lyric says, that's how it's done." Today's Gonna Be Our Day: "'Today's Gonna Be Our Day' is a call to arms for my generation to make change, take an interest in what's going on in the world. Don't be apolitical, stay informed. It's about making your surroundings a better place, and you could start today."

  • Wild Rivers - Live Review

Review By Lauren Page / LiveWithLP Photo Credit Lynsey Wyllie What better way to kick off your European tour than a sold-out night in Oran Mor, that’s what Canadian folk band, Wild Rivers managed to achieve with their debut Scottish gig on Tuesday night. In a venue known for its impeccable acoustics and intimate atmosphere, Wild Rivers took over Òran Mór with a smash hit double bill lineup featuring Australian star Hazlett who I’ll let you know in advance, is one of the most phenomenal support acts I’ve ever witnessed.  That’s something I love about going to concerts, is the support act taking to the stage and 9 timers out of 10, it's a total surprise - it’s an artist you’ve maybe heard a whisper of or a recommendation - but nothing could have prepared me for Hazlett's voice. You could have heard a pin drop, the way Hazlett captured the attention of everyone in the room was impressive and his music carried through the venue like an absolute dream.  Unlike the headline act, this wasn’t Hazlett's first time playing in Glasgow, the Aussie star announced he’d played in an even more intimate venue than Òran Mór, the famous King Tuts located in the City Centre and proudly announced: “There's a lot more of you here than there was back then”. As Hazlett set drew to a close, I think I texted a good 7 of my friends who enjoy Ben Howard, Hozier, Tom Odell and Bon Ivor a link to his Spotify - I cannot stress enough, keep an eye on Hazlett because this man is a talented vocal powerhouse.  I usually find at gigs the gap between the support act and the headline act entering the stage, you find the crowd tends to double in size, but not in this case, the majority of the crowd came right from the start to watch Hazlett and waited for Wild Rivers.   As the lights dimmed, the band took to the stage whilst Elton John’s ‘Bennie and the Jets’ played. Wild Rivers are known for their flawless live vocals and they certainly did not disappoint. Lead singer Khalid announced that there were gonna be “plenty of songs about break-ups, being broken up with, breaking up with people and well… heartbreak”. The Folk trio extended their band for the tour and it's rare you can watch a band live, close your eyes and honestly feel like you’re listening to a recording but with Wild Rivers, fans were treated to just that - pitch-perfect vocals and a phenomenal live show.  “We’ve been touring with a much shorter set, so this is exciting to do a whole 75-minute set,” says lead vocalist Devan who joked they were going to try a song that they’ve only played once and the crowd needed to give their honest opinion. It was also revealed that the band has been writing a new album which is due out next year. The audience was treated to phenomenal live versions of Speak Too Soon, Small Talk and of course, what would a Wild Rivers show be without Thinking ‘Bout Love. My favourite song of the evening turned out to be Neon Love. Khalid explained the story behind how this song was written and where it came from and I love it when artists explain the backgrounds of their tracks, it was a wholesome moment towards the end of the gig.  From start to finish, Wild Rivers interacted with the crowd, told anecdotes about the songs and provided the sold-out venue with a wholesome and incredibly intimate concert. Òran Mór was a great venue for the band and with a sold-out Scottish debut, I don’t think this is the last we will see of the folk powerhouses in the future.

  • ROAD By Alice Cooper - Album Review

Review By Lauren Page / LiveWithLP With over 25 albums under his belt, Alice Cooper once again takes us into his captivating and twisted glam rock world with his latest release Road which features 13 powerhouse anthems captivating the true raspy rock-and-roll iconic voice we all know and love. At 79 years old, over 50 million tracks released worldwide and a successful supergroup known as the Hollywood Vampires featuring Johnny Depp and Joe Perry still touring the globe, Alice Cooper has no signs of slowing down and this album is a prime example of the theatrical rock and roll he is known for and the electrifying storytelling he produces through music. This record is a new era of daring riffs and showcases why Alice is the undisputed maestro of shock rock.  “I’m yours forever but you’re mine tonight” Even with track 1, Alice Cooper is back at it as a lyrical mastermind, sprinkling that 70’s vibe and impeccable guitar riffs from the get-go with the opening track ‘I’m Alice’. This would be the kind of song I’d love to see him kick off a show with.  ‘Welcome to the Show’ is second up on the tracklist and transports you back to the 80’s rock era we all know and remember from Alice Cooper. The guitar work on this track stands out for me and by track 2 on this album I am already hooked to see what is up next, I’m telling you from this early on, this album is going to be INCREDIBLE live.  There's no denying that his discography over the years has been the epitome of diversity and this is shown in tracks 3 and 4, All Over The World and The Dead Don’t Dance taking on a more infectious rock beat - you truly don’t know what you’re getting with each track and that’s a testament to Cooper's musical storytelling.  We’re only a third through the album and still seeing Cooper experiment with new styles and sounds. Classic rock and roll shine bright with ‘Go Away’ which brings out the satirical style we know and love from Alice’s songs, let's be honest, nobody brings stories to life on stage quite like Alice in this comical yet glam rock approach.  Further, down the tracklist, we reach my favourite, ‘Rules of the Road’ - this is one of those tracks you hear for the first time and start creating up a music video or live stage show in your head. I can see this being a big theatrical number with the crowd singing back every single lyric. For true Alice fans, I think track 9, The Big Goodbye will hit hard, the underlying meaning of the song hits home that we are going to one day have to accept that Alice Cooper is going to hang up his macabre stage theatrics and say goodbye to his on-stage alter ego. Or hey, maybe I’m looking into the track too much but that's the beauty of an Alice Cooper track, You’re always searching for the meanings behind the songs and what story lies within the lyrics.  ‘Road Rats’ is another brilliant track on this album, as mentioned above, there's no denying Alice Cooper racks up the air miles with his touring and this track is a great overview of life on the road with a catchy rhythm and brilliant solos.  Yet another curveball enters the chat with track 11, Baby Please Don’t Go, theres no denying Alice has given us some spectacular ballads over the years, I mean who forgets I’m Always Chasing Rainbows? That goes without saying, but Baby Please Don’t Go being towards the end of the record is strategically placed, exploring all of Coopers' genres and saving the heartfelt tracks till the end.  The unmistakable voice of Cooper shines through for the next track, 100 Miles. A similar vibe to the last track too, showcasing his spoken-word lyrics and penchant for outrageousness.  The final track on the album is Magic Bus. This feels like such a random addition to the end of the record, but I think I’ve said enough times above, one of the reasons Alice Cooper is loved by millions is due to his ability to constantly break boundaries and change up his sound and genre. This is a great way to round off an album.  Whether you’ve been there from the start, in the last decade or are new to the world of Alice Cooper, I will tell you that Road is up there with one of the best albums Alice has released. It has the whacky essence of Cooper with dashings of theatrical wordplay and the glam rock golden era all weaved into one album.  Road is out August 25th
