Genre-bending live sensations Rainbow Kitten Surprise return with anthemic new single Sixteen, out today via Atlantic Records. After months of being teased to widespread fan approval during the band's lauded live shows, RKS have finally shared a recorded version of the track.

With powerful guitars and frontwoman/songwriter Ela Melo's piercing vocals, Sixteen delivers the kind of shout-it-from-the-rooftops catharsis that has become the band's signature. On the song, the band share, "This track is slightly different from a lot of what 'bones' carries, so we didn't actually include it on the record but we're happy that people are going to hear it. Topically it's a dual thing. One, it's sort of a fantasy life that's getting displayed, especially the idea of being the 'prom queen at sixteen,' your first prom ever. Two, I think on a more universal level, the song is about triumph over death and the idea that we all still live on past our prime, even past our lifetime. We live on in the memories of people."

Sixteen marks RKS's first offering since their latest album bones, which was released in September 2025. The record became an instant fan favourite and earned critical praise from Billboard, Paste, Brooklyn Vegan, and more. Recorded during the same sessions as bones, Sixteen continues to build off the lyrical vulnerability and spirit of collaboration on the record, while also earning a treasured place on the band's setlist.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise are currently on the road for The bones World Tour, which has sold out every night thus far and sees the band hit venues including Brooklyn Paramount in Brooklyn, NY, and The Bomb Factory in Dallas, TX, with support from Common People. RKS will also be playing venues across the UK and Ireland in May and June, before closing the tour with shows including The Greek Theater in Los Angeles and Pittsburgh's Stage AE featuring support from Spacey Jane. Their North American run also includes festival stops at Bonnaroo and Zootown. Tickets are available now here – see full details and dates below.

Once again, Rainbow Kitten Surprise has partnered with PLUS1 so that $1 per ticket from this tour goes to the Rainbow Kitten Surprise Fund, dedicated to building a more just and compassionate world by uplifting marginalised communities, expanding access to vital resources, and delivering critical support in times of need.

Stay tuned for more!
