EMMY MELI
Focus Track - EGO

It's Valentine's weekend and therefore the perfect time for Emmy Meli to unveil her brand new EP 'All About Love'. Now 400 millionstreams into a career which is still gaining momentum, she launches the EP alongside a video for its focus track 'Ego'. While love can be the fairytale of eternal romance, 'All About Love' delves into its deeper nuances: the love of family and friends, embracing self-love and empowerment, using love as a form of mutual spiritual respect that helps make our day-to-day lives so much richer.

Produced by Swindle (GhettsKojey RadicalCeleste), this is Emmy's first entirely self-written project, and the 1999 book 'All About Love: New Visions' by bell hooks inspired her thinking. The EP is a reflection and an update of the book's philosophy. As bell hookswrote, "When we see love as the will to nurture one's own, or another's spiritual growth, revealed through acts of care, respect, knowing, and assuming responsibility, the foundation of all love in our life is the same. There is no special love exclusively reserved for romantic partners."

Emmy says, "This project is a sociological take on how our society affects the way we give and receive love and all of its forms. I truly feel that this is the most vulnerable I've ever been able to get and I feel kinda exposed. Swindle and I connect on such an amazing level when it comes to music, but also life. Every time we get together, we have these deep talks about spirituality and our world views. I was telling him everything that was going on in my crazy colourful messed up life, and we made this music as a way of healing and rewriting all those wounds; quite literally while I was scabbing them up."

The EP's new focus track 'Ego' taps into the purity and freedom of love, and how it can hit when you least expect it. Directed by Marielle Boland, the accompanying video is a feast for the senses. Emmy Meli quite literally goes somewhere over the rainbow and takes her beguiling performance and vivid personality into a dazzling alternate fantasy world.

Emmy adds, "'Ego' is a track that you want the DJ to play on reggaeton night or early 2000s throwbacks. It feels like sweating at the live music club, dancing like no one's watching, letting down your walls, and maybe finding a fun new boo while you're at it."

'Ego' joins the recent singles 'The Zoo''OOH LA LA' and 'Other Things' on the 'All About Love' EP. It also introduces new tracks in the shape of the heavy duty R&B strut 'Heather' and the self-determined funk-soul grooves of 'Built From The Bullshit', before closing on the supremely self-assured 'Glory'. Collectively it's a bite-sized soundtrack for empowerment, healing and love in all its forms.

The 26-year-old Emmy Meli cites the likes of SadeVictoria MonetAmy WinehouseBarbara Lewis and Minnie Riperton as inspirations - all artists from different generations and varied styles, but that are all united by remarkable voices and having something to say. Her biggest breakthrough so far came with 300 million+ streams and Platinum (US) and Silver (UK) certifications for her international chart hit 'I Am Woman' - a song that earned further discovery as the theme song for Meghan Markle's 'Archetypes' podcast. Emmy subsequently explored her artistry in depth with the 'Hello Stranger' EP before stepping into a new era with 'All About Love'.

Emmy will follow the EP release by playing three special 'Evening With' shows - experiences with the intimacy of a group FaceTime with a performance that she compares to "seeing a fairy perform with pixie dust." Tickets for the shows, listed below, are available HERE.
